Drops of Rain

It drops so sparingly, spitter spatter, from the sky
I hope to see many more as days go by.
The health and wealth it brings to my body and soul.
To my country in need where there is no food or bowl.

I look above for answers and wait for the rain to fall.
Especially, those drops of rain, I would like to catch-all.
The raindrop a drink from god, to enrich the earth.
Where humanity is freed and given rebirth.

Let your tongue taste it, let it quench your thirst.
Remember the moment, as if it is your first.
Everything washes away that is wrong.
Like the raindrop feel that you always belong.

The Self

The ingredients of one’s desire, in discovering the essence of life.
How does one balance the inner with the outer?  Are they one in the same?
Inner thoughts are in my mind but do I relate them to the rest of the world.
Are my outer actions a reflection of who I truly am?

Peace, goodwill, a helping hand are my gestures to the world.
These are the outer actions of human nature by many.
In a few the helping hands do not exist.  The consciousness of self is lost.
Their actions are a reflection of ego, greed, and mania.

The disembodiment of consciousness results in darkness.
Self is a realization that inner thoughts and outer actions are connected.
The two are brought together to better understand life’s bountiful pleasures.
In the process, the discovering of life expands one’s knowledge of self.

The Quest for the Rose

In search of a beauty beholds its thorns.
In its fold of sweet color lies the smell of eternity.
How does one attain such strength and grace?

The rose holds the grace of the heavens.
Yet with its thorn, it must protect itself from the earth.
Mans quest for the rose is to contain its pleasure.

It creates a symbol of friendship, peace, and love.
How could the rose be so fruitful in its lifetime?
It makes strangers smile, friends laugh, and lovers forget.
The quest for the rose is an eternal reflection of our humanity.

The Fortunes of Few

My eyes see the wealth; my stomach feels the emptiness,
When I give out my hand, I get nothing in return,
I am forced to be in a position that I can not resist,
I am the ills of society, and I am their hope.

The human race advances forward, and I take two back,
Inertia has left me here, but why must it be?
Why am I not part of the New Order?
Science and technology move on,

We are exploring the final frontiers of space.
However, I am in the inner cities of prosperity,
Looking from the outside in, I am in the center, but am nowhere,
Our society justifies our fortunes individually,
I am an individual with nothing to show, do I still belong?

Real

The structure of society bearing down on me,
The crucifixion to stay real,
Drop-in; drop out, drop dead,
What does life really mean? Where will I be?

Entering the fast lane is no escape,
The nine to five does not facilitate,
My needs, my wants are to the extreme,
What does life really mean? Where will I be?

Gotta get out, gotta get real,
I am told; get with the program, get ready to feel,
The pain, the suffering, listen to the stories untold,
The hardships will make me strong so that I can belong,

The chains of despair are broken, I will be free,
Because life will mean, what I want it to be.
