Shuffle to a Mission

Moving forward I can hear the harmony of our feet.
As we shuffle to a mission for our first rest and to eat.
The faces around me are young and old with despair.
Our American dream is now broken without care.

What happened to a fulltime job with good pay?
Social security, benefits, and time to pray.
At a busy street corner with a handheld out.
Head down and pride put aside as people shout.

Home is a shelter with my thoughts alone.
The day begins by begging as my stomach moans.
I see for sale, foreclosure, and bankrupt around me.
When will the government bailout the real needy?
