Yes We Can, Yes We Did!

There is no time for reflection, after this important election.
We begin the day on tackling problems and how to solve them.
Throughout the campaign, we believed in Yes We Can.
We didn’t need a superhero just a common man.

Moving forward and creating a team ready to select.
The historic moment is no party for the President-elect.
The many problems at hand are abounding.
We know the economy is no longer sound.

He has taken control before his inauguration
With his quickness in speed, he can affect a generation.
U.S. workers are struggling to survive.
Will the loans and bailout spark the economy alive?

Persecuted Cowards

If I asked you a question what would you say?
Would you tell me an answer or ponder the day.
Problems, so important, at the foot of the bay.
How can we resolve them and make them go away.

Let us look to each other, and remember a time.
When we were friends and our love was a crime.
You are black and I am white.
Don’t sit back, believe in the fight.

The dawn of a new age, with our rights at hand.
Cast a vote, and be part of this great land.
I am an Afro-American, just like you.
We are in a race that can decide a future of two.

Always at the end of the line, with no place of mine.
With this election, let’s make a decisive selection.
That will put us as equals, and not repeat a sequel.
Of putting the same people, in office and power.
Let us not be a nation of persecuted cowards.
